Slow growing, Hydrangea 'Pia' is a dwarf mophead hydrangea. It produces small, rounded flower heads up to 4" across, densely packed with pink-purple florets from mid-to late summer. Unlike other hydrangeas, Pia retains their pink color regardless of soil pH. The foliage is dark green with large, glossy, serrated leaves. Perfect for low hedges, or in window boxes.
Typically grows 2-3 ft tall and wide.
Part shade, does best in rich, well-drained soils.
No serious pest or disease issues.
Remove spent flowers to promote new blooms. Prune after flowering by cutting back to a pair of healthy buds on the steam. Prune out weak or winter-damaged stems in early spring.
