With head-turning color, this early to midsummer bloomer puts the commonly called beardtongue into the spotlight. Bred for compact growth capped by spires of cerise-pink flowers, this little beauty accents containers as well as the edge of a border.
Beardtongue is a very large genus of herbaceous perennials, most native to North America. Their colorful, tubular flowers are borne in profusion close to the stems and the nectar is relished by hummingbirds. Most species require well-drained or very well-drained soil and full sun.
